Admissions and Procedures Policy

Starting in Year 5

All parents and carers are required to apply for a place with Central Bedfordshire School Admissions Services. For more information please visit:

or call them on 0300 300 8037.

September 2020 – middle school transfer information sent from Central Bedfordshire direct to parents/carers via their current lower schools.

November 2020– middle schools have their open evenings and weeks for new parents and pupils.

January 2021 – national closing date for applications to be received by the School Admissions Team is 14th January 2021.

April 2021 – national offer day for on-time applications is 15th April 2021. Parents/carers will receive letters in the post or an email if they applied online.

Change of preference or if you wish to decline a place needs to be submitted by 30th April 2021.

May – July 2021 – staff from Brooklands will meet lower school staff and the children that have chosen the school.

A programme of afternoon sessions will be offered to children who are worried about the transition and will find the procedure unsettling.

July 2021 – Your child will spend two days at their middle school on Wednesday and Thursday 1st and 2nd July, where they will meet their new Form Teacher and classmates. Parents / carers will be invited to a parents evening on the Wednesday.

In-Year Admissions

If you wish your child to transfer to our school during the school year (an in-year admission) then you must contact our Admissions Officer directly as we will do not deal with in-year admissions ourselves.
